Trauma

One of the biggest anxiety triggers is trauma.  Trauma is any experience that was distressing or disturbing to you.  There are no rules to what is considered traumatic to a person.  What may be traumatic for one person may not be traumatic to another person.  No two people’s experiences are the same and no two people respond the same to their experiences.  Trauma, if not addressed, can have a negative impact on one’s life for year and years after the fact.  Those traumatic experiences can cause you to have anxiety, to worry, be withdrawn, and to constantly relieve the experience.  Childhood trauma can impact how you parent.  Trauma as an adult can cause you to have difficulty with relationships and work life.  Through counseling, we work to address your past experience, determine your triggers, and help you address any negative thoughts that contribute to you reliving your trauma.

Services consist of an assessment session where I gather all the information needed and work with you to determine your needs. Individual sessions will follow until your goals are complete.  Email support may be given in between sessions.  I believe that services should only be given as needed and once clients have reached their goals, services should be ended (so no dragging things out).
